GLYCERIN

Glycerin

Elaine writes:
Since glycerin is not a sugar to begin with, the "ol" at the end does not make it a sugar alcohol. Glycerin is considered to belong to the fat family. So does glycerol.

Seth writes:
Glycerine is legal. If it were not, then fat wouldn't be allowed either. Glycerol is what attaches three fatty acids to get a triglyceride. The body can convert it into a carbohydrate, but it is not a carb.

I found a very good article on glycerol and it has reconfirmed my previous feelings that it is fine.

I don't think I would use it in baking but I would have to study it a bit more.

This single book has been more informative than any doctor I've spoken with. The opening chapters outline underlying causes for these various illnesses and go into great detail. This gave me the tools to better approach my doctors and explain what was going on to family members.
