Seed Butters

Elaine writes:
For the hulled sesame seeds made into butter, I think that using some of
this in addition to the almonds would be OK provided that not too much
were used. I am not trying to be difficult but many of these seeds and
nuts contains a minuscule amount of cyanide (as does vitamin B12). At one
time when Leatrile (a cancer "cure") was very popular, the doctors pushing
it claimed that this small amount of cyandide (extracted from apricot
pits) was beneficial in killing off some cancer-causing agents. My fear is
that we are using wonderfully nutritious nuts to bake with and if someone
decides to make seeds (also containing cyanide) a large part of their
caloric intake, it will be too much. Do I know what too much is for every
individual?? Of course, I don't. I just don't have custom-made answers for
every combination of foods .
